Evans Lake Dam
The project consisted of the reconstruction and upgrading of an earthen dam which failed during heavy rains in 1989. The dam is classified as a high hazard dam requiring permitting by DEM Dam Safety. The new earthen dam includes a 50 foot concrete spillway capable of passing a 1/3 PMP design storm. The dam was substantially reconstructed to include a new core, slope protection, toe drains and relocation of a sanitary sewer outfall to outside the embankment area. Responsibilities included hydrology and watershed analysis, design, surveying, soil stability analysis, specifications, permitting, project administration, construction staking and observation.
