GIS/GPS Mapping of Electric Distribution and Transmission System for the PWC of Fayetteville, NC

Moorman, Kizer & Reitzel Inc. and O & M Services, Inc. subsidiary company MK&R and O&M Service, LLC provides electrical infrastructure inventories. Through the use of Global Positioning Systems and Geographic Information Systems we have produced for the Public Works Commission (PWC) a seamless, fully attributed electrical distribution and transmission GIS data layer.

The project has collected 43,000 electrical poles,13,000 transformers and 70,000 meters and underground and overhead conductors. The GIS data will allow the Public Works Commission to manage their asset, maintenance, system valuation, customer service and run electrical models using Miner & Miner software. Maps were produced which show maintenance requirements for poles and structures, clearance infringements for conductors and foreign contacts and street lights.
