Fort Bragg, NC

Wayne Howard

(910) 396-2784

$370,000

The Recondo School at Fort Bragg is used in training ROTC candidates. The project included steel sheet piling, dredging Little River, stream bank stabilization using gab ions and rock filled mat- tress and erosion control measures. Both wetlands permitting and water quality permitting were required and the project is located upstream of the Fort Bragg Water Treatment Plant resulting in stricter permit requirements. The area also has several Red Cockaded Woodpecker colonies making the design and construction more challenging. Responsibilities included survey, sounding the river bottom, design, specifications and permitting.

The stormwater management project covered the 55-acre generation plant site into a zero discharge facility exceeding the new NPDES stormwater management requirements. The project included the construction of a 5.5 acre retention pond with the slopes protected by concrete grout filled fabric, a dam, an extensive storm drainage collection system and the area completely bermed. An ''as-built'' topo of the entire plant site was performed as well as boundary survey and survey acquisition of 8 additional parcels, furnished to PWC in the AutoCADD format. Other responsibilities included construction management (multiple simultaneous projects by others were constructed 24 hours a day), construction staking, and project administration.
